Herald Sun - Motoring - - Big Wheels -

Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot vans are being recalled for unrelated issues. The Mercedes Vito (above) and Viano vans (type 639) with under-slung rear wheel located up to April 15, 2008, are being recalled in relation to a problem with the spare wheel mounted beneath the vehicle. It is possible the mechanism that holds the wheel in place could fail, causing the wheel to detach. Mercedes says it will contact owners of the vehicles. Peugeot has announced it will recall Expert vehicles built from December 2006 to February 2008 to fix the lighting management system. This glitch could cause the exterior lights to cut out. Peugeot is contacting owners by letter and suggest they make an appointment with a dealer for a software upgrade.
