BIKE­MAK­ERS rolled out their lat­est ma­chin­ery at last week­end’s Mel­bourne Bike Expo with a bunch of mod­els mak­ing their Aus­tralian de­buts.

Suzuki gave sports­bike rid­ers a pre­view of the GSX-R750 (above) ahead of its ar­rival next year.

Du­cati showed off its rad­i­cally styled Di­avel cruiser and BMW man­aged to con­vince the Ger­man head of­fice to ship over its K1600 GTL pow­ered by an in­line six-cylin­der en­gine. Tri­umph took the wraps off its 1050cc Speed Triple naked bike and Kawasaki had the ac­claimed ZX-10R sports­bike on its stand.

Honda re­leased the CBR250R in Aus­tralia. Aprilia had its Dor­su­doro 1200 on show. The expo was also the venue for the launch of a scooter com­pany. Cal­i­for­nia Scoot­ers is be­ing im­ported by Mag­num Cus­tom Mo­tor­cy­cles, the com­pany that sells the Pro One cus­tom chop­pers. Cal­i­for­nia Scoot­ers are 150cc sin­gle-cylin­der bikes priced from $6995.
