THE Truck In­dus­try Coun­cil has an­nounced Simon Humphries has been ap­pointed chief tech­ni­cal of­fi­cer. He joins af­ter a stint as busi­ness man­ager at Wes­farm­ers Evol LNG and re­places Terry Pen­ning­ton, who has re­tired. He will be re­spon­si­ble for com­ing up with the coun­cil’s tech­ni­cal po­si­tion on is­sues, as well as the pro­mo­tion of truck man­u­fac­tur­ers to govern­ment and in­dus­try groups. Chief ex­ec­u­tive Tony McMul­lan says: ‘‘Simon is a dy­namic and pas­sion­ate in­di­vid­ual who brings con­sid­er­able ex­pe­ri­ence and tech­ni­cal knowl­edge to the role. He is re­spected by trans­port in­dus­try col­leagues.’’ The Can­berra-based group pro­motes the views of truck man­u­fac­tur­ers, im­porters, and en­gine and com­po­nent sup­pli­ers to pol­icy mak­ers.
