TRUCK driv­ers who use Queens­land’s Bruce High­way are set to ben­e­fit from new and up­graded rest ar­eas.The Fed­eral Govern­ment is fund­ing the $25 mil­lion Bruce High­way Safety Pack­age, which will bankroll 25 new rest ar­eas, the up­grade of sev­eral ex­ist­ing rest sites and the lay­ing of au­di­ble edge lane mark­ings.The lo­ca­tions of the new rest stops and of those that need up­grad­ing were de­cided af­ter plan­ning and as­sess­ment by Queens­land Main Roads and the truck­ing in­dus­try based on max­i­mum safety out­comes.Con­struc­tion will start soon and the new rest ar­eas will be opened through­out the next three years.
