Toy­ota was the world’s biggest car­maker for a third year in 2010, as a global ve­hi­cle re­cov­ery out­weighed a dip in US sales. Toy­ota’s sales, in­clud­ing af­fil­i­ates, rose 8 per cent to 8.42 mil­lion units, ahead of a 12 per cent rise for GM to 8.39 mil­lion units and Volk­swa­gen with 7.14 mil­lion ve­hi­cles, an in­crease of 14 per cent.
