Daimler lights Fuso
THE Mercedes Benz Daimler Group has tightened its control over Mitsubishi Fuso, buying more shares in the Japanese truck and bus maker. The German giant, which is the largest truckmaker in the world, spent $364 million to increase its share of the Kawasaki-based firm from 85 per cent to 89.29 per cent. Experts suggest the capital injection will give Mitsubishi Fuso the cash it needs to more extensively develop new models. Among its projects, Mistubishi Fuso is developing hybrid truck technology that could be used across the Daimler group.
