IF YOU’RE a muscle car enthusiast, Shannons Melbourne Winter Auction is the place to be on Monday night when five sought-after V8 models go under the hammer — two with no reserve price. The headline act is a 1971 Falcon XY GT with 38,138 miles on its odometer and is expected to sell for $65,000-$85,000. If you lean to the red corner, there’s also a 1976 mint julep-coloured four-speed manual Holden LX Torana SL/R 5000 sedan offered with no reserve that is expected to sell for a more affordable $18,000-$24,000. And if you’ve ever wanted to own a classic Monaro, three GTS V8 models are among the 48 vehicles and 24 items of memorabilia in the auction. All auction vehicles are available for inspection at 321 Warrigal Rd, Cheltenham, from 9am-5pm tomorrow and from 10am-4pm on Sunday. Monday’s auction starts at 7pm.
