the McCollam family
SUBARU’s Forester, the sales leader in the segment, attracted the McCollam family for several reasons. Neil, 47, and Megan, 41, needed to find something easier to drive than the long-serving Toyota HiLux dual-cab that also accommodated growing daughters Sarah and Kate.
The Forester is a flexible and efficient package that still enables the family to get off sealed roads in relative comfort.
‘‘I was looking at a Kluger but fuel prices played a good part in the decision to go with the Subaru,’’ Neil says. ‘‘The allwheel drive was another reason we went to a Forester. In some of the others it was not always on the entry-level model. We’ve put that to good use as well.’’
The family already had Subaru experience — Megan spends her time in an Impreza wagon — and the Forester’s cabin suited the family’s requirements perfectly.
‘‘The kids are more comfortable in the back of the Forester,’’ Neil says. ‘‘There’s more space for them than in the old HiLux. The cargo space is not as much but it’s now covered.
‘‘It’s been a good move. We can get on the dirt but have a good city car.’’ Good move: The McCollams are happy they switched to
