Familiar Falcon sheet metal

Fans of Australian touring car racing often get a bit misty-eyed at the mention of the golden era of homologation specials, back when Holden Monaros and Falcon GTHOS ruled the nation’s racetracks, and Allan Moffat and Peter Brock were household names. V8 supercar driver James Moffat grew up in the shadow of his father’s on-track exploits so knows he has big shoes to fill, particularly as this year is the 40th anniversary of Moffat snr’s first Australian Touring Car Championship, and the 40th anniversary of the Falcon’s first title win. Moffat jnr chose to celebrate the occasion by unveiling his 2012 Falcon — literally, as he peeled off the covering sheet decked out as his dad’s legendary GTHO. For video of the reveal, including interviews with the Moffats and Dick Johnson, view carsguide.com.au.
