KIA RIO SEDAN AND 3-DOOR Unveiled this week is the extended range of Kia’s Carsguide Car of the Year winner (pictured above), which now comes also in sedan and three-door hatch variants. Expect pricing to start from the current car’s $15,270 to around $21,990 for the topspec sedan. Unusually for this segment, six speeds are offered in both manual and automatic. We recommend the manual to get the most of the 1.6-litre petrol four, but you just won’t listen, will you?

HYUNDAI VELOSTER ‘‘Is it a hatch? Is it a van?’’ All right already ... I think we can agree the 2+1 door configuration is a bit different. But not that different. Mini might have something to say on that score. Anyway, the admittedly pretty nifty-looking little jiggers are with us next week. Prices are from $23,990 for the 1.6 GDI manual to $29,990 for the CDI DCT auto. Add on-roads and $375 for nice paint.
