Eccentric Uncle Tim’s buy of the week
IF you want to go fast, so the saying goes, buy a motorbike. But if you want to go fast without surgery, buy a car from a company that began with motorbikes.
Honda’s S2000 was possibly the closest Honda ever got to expressing its two-wheel heritage in fourwheel form. This howling convertible broke rev records and eardrums. More direct and manic than the larger NSX, the S2000 could earn you a speeding ticket in reverse gear. Avoid modified examples, because the car was just right straight out of the factory. This 12-year-old car on the Gold Coast has done 104,000km, but is just $23,990. Screams don’t come much cheaper.
