Em­bed­ded in a vis­ual pack­age that sur­passes the CLK it sup­plants, this re­cently up­graded E-Class Coupe has to be the high­light of the range for its sheer ca­pa­bil­ity.

We can say this not af­ter the usual prod­uct launch drive in ideal con­di­tions, nor even the typ­i­cal one week press car loan pe­riod, but af­ter liv­ing with this chunk of ki­netic sculp­ture for eight weeks and 1200km in all con­di­tions from wide open roads to Sydney’s famed peakhour pur­ga­tory.

If there is a bet­ter pres­tige grand tourer to be had at this price or even twice that, it is not known to me. This is a GT that comes per­ilously close to be­ing all things to all peo­ple.
