If you tire of the E-class Coupe, you’re tired of life
— all from a smallish turbo diesel engine.
Embedded in a visual package that surpasses the CLK it supplants, this recently upgraded E-Class Coupe has to be the highlight of the range for its sheer capability.
We can say this not after the usual product launch drive in ideal conditions, nor even the typical one week press car loan period, but after living with this chunk of kinetic sculpture for eight weeks and 1200km in all conditions from wide open roads to Sydney’s famed peakhour purgatory.
If there is a better prestige grand tourer to be had at this price or even twice that, it is not known to me. This is a GT that comes perilously close to being all things to all people.
