THE original Batmobile from the 1960s TV series is up for auction in Arizona next month. Famed auto customiser George Barris, pictured, transformed a one-of-a-kind 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car into the sleek 5.7-metre, bubble-topped crime fighting machine. Now 87, Barris is selling the Caped Crusader’s company car. The TV show starred Adam West as Batman, aka tycoon Bruce Wayne, and intending buyers might need his kind of cash — auction house Barrett Jackson anticipates knocking it down for $2 million. Before its time, it was fitted with lasers and a Batphone and could lay down smokescreens and oil slicks.
