MELBOURNE REVS UP FOR THE BIG SHOW
AUSTRALIA’S biggest show for motoring enthusiasts hits town this weekend, with the arrival of Meguiar’s MotorEx at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
The event began as a relatively small show focusing on hot rods and classic cars, but the promoters, MotorActive, have turned it into an iconic event covering custom, performance and collectable cars, with nothing standard like the conventional motor shows.
“The diversity of Meguiar’s MotorEx is the key to the show,” says Bruce Morrison, managing director of MotorActive. “We let the event evolve as the industry itself evolves. Just like fashion, certain styles of modifications, tastes or car types move in and out of popularity and our event embraces this evolution.”
The event is expected to draw people of all ages and from all walks of life, with the common denominator being a passion for all things automotive.
“Because the show is so diverse with everything from collectable cars to high- performance vehicles, customised machines, race cars and even bikes, we have a broad audience,” Morrison says.
“The show caters from very expensive modified and customised cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, to our Real Street Blvd cars which are often weekend driven cars, not worth mega dollars and within the reach of most.”
Meguiar’s MotorEx, July 19-20, at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Saturday, 10am-7pm, and Sunday, 10am-6pm. Details/tickets: motorex.com.au
