The Three Stooges of global motoring will all be in Australia in April. After two years with Jeremy Clarkson and James May on duty for the Top Gear Festival, Richard “The Hamster” Hammond takes his place at Sydney Motorsport Park on April 18-19.
On the evidence of the first two TG festivals in Sydney, the trio will be overshadowed by Dan Ricciardo.
Red Bull has been a big backer of the event in the past two years, bringing its F1 stars Mark Webber and then Ricciardo to Sydney, as well as V8 Supercar aces Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes.
Third in this year’s F1 championship, Ricciardo will in Perth for a holiday break before pre-season testing as team leader at Red Bull Racing. Expect to see him lapping at Eastern Creek in one of the team’s older grand prix cars.
