Formerly known as the ML, the GLE range starts with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel at $86,900, rising to $189,900 for the GLE63 AMG S. The coupe-styled riposte to the BMW X6 starts at $121,900 for the GLE 350d Coupe and winds out to $198,900 for the GLE63 AMG S Coupe. Standard gear includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and active blindspot and lane-keeping assistance.

Toyota has confirmed 31 variants of its new HiLux ute, priced from about $21,000 to about $60,000 for the rangetopping SR5 dual cab. Photos show a vastly improved interior dominated by a tablet-styled infotainment display. HiLux will haul 3500kg with a payload of up to 1240kg. Four engines — two petrol and two diesel — will be available, while seven airbags and a reversing camera take care of safety.

The facelifted BT-50 gets a scowl on the front end, intended to appeal more to tradies. Prices start at $25,570, some unchanged or, depending on the variant, a few hundred dollars more. The 2.2 and 3.2-litre turbo diesels carry over, matched to six-speed manual or auto transmissions. Mazda is expected to update connectivity features. There are 23 models in three body styles.
