WHAT’S NEW?

Herald Sun - Motoring - - PRESTIGE -

PRICE

The base price of $38,900 is not as sharp as hoped but the value is good and it continues through all three models.

EQUIPMENT

Think baby Benz and you’ll get the basic package, from 17 and 18-inch alloys to auto safety braking and speed sign recognition.

PERFORMANCE

The 1.6-litre base engine is nothing special, even running in Sport, but the seven-speed DSG is good and the 2.0-litre petrol is more than enough for the car and class.

DRIVING

It’s surprisingly plush in the suspension, comfortable and quiet. It’s no sports car but Benz always has the A45 AMG.

DESIGN

Infiniti calls the Q30 a crossover but it could also be seen as a funky hatch. It’s not as confronting as some Infiniti designs but still has personality.
