FAST FORD TO FUTURE

With autonomous cars just around the corner, Ford sees a future where private car ownership will be less important. The group has announced it’s buying Chariot, a San Franciscobased crowd-sourced shuttle service to which it already supplies vans. Ford plans to have fully autonomous taxis in use by 2021 followed by private sales of autonomous vehicles in 2025.

TALKING OF AUTONOMY

Volvo’s autonomous driving experiment Drive Me began this week in Sweden. The project will see a driverless XC90 take to the streets of Gothenburg. It’s the first of a series of autonomous cars that will eventually be handed to real families to be driven on public roads.

OFF HIS BLOCK

Ken Block’s latest Gymkhana Nine is out. The latest in his series of wildly successful stunt driving videos was to have been filmed in Sydney but unfortunately the police put a stop to that.
