FAST FORD TO FUTURE
With autonomous cars just around the corner, Ford sees a future where private car ownership will be less important. The group has announced it’s buying Chariot, a San Franciscobased crowd-sourced shuttle service to which it already supplies vans. Ford plans to have fully autonomous taxis in use by 2021 followed by private sales of autonomous vehicles in 2025.
TALKING OF AUTONOMY
Volvo’s autonomous driving experiment Drive Me began this week in Sweden. The project will see a driverless XC90 take to the streets of Gothenburg. It’s the first of a series of autonomous cars that will eventually be handed to real families to be driven on public roads.
