NEED A LYFT

The boss of ride-hailing company Lyft, John Zimmer, believes private car ownership will come to an end by 2025 in US cities. He says self-driving cars will remove the need for private vehicles and human drivers.

DAY OF REST

For most dealers, Saturday and Sunday are the days they sell the most cars. But Honolulu Ford dealer Mark Benson closes on Sundays so his workers and buyers can go to church. He also has a cable-TV channel with ondemand religious programs. Having friends in high places pays off — his is Hawaii’s No.1 Ford dealership.

HELP DESIGN A CAR

VW sub-brand Seat wants greater buyer involvement in design. Marketing boss Susanne Franz, launching a special edition picked by 30 readers of Cosmopolitan magazine, says: “The most social thing you can do is invite people in and let them be a part of the decisionmaking process.”
