LO­TUS RUM­BLING

Cashed-up Chi­nese maker Geely, the owner of Volvo and the Lon­don Taxi Com­pany, is tipped to be the next owner of Bri­tish brand Lo­tus. Malaysia’s Pro­ton has owned the sports mar­que since 1996 but may not have the funds to re­place Lo­tus’s age­ing light­weight plat­form.

A year-long global vote has named the McLaren F1 as the Great­est Su­per­car Ever, ahead of 32 oth­ers in­clud­ing the Jaguar XK120, Mercedes 300SL Gull­wing, Lam­borgh­ini Miura and Coun­tach and Bu­gatti Vey­ron. Sen­sa­tion­ally styled by F1 de­sign guru Gor­don Mur­ray, the three-seater is pow­ered by a 6.1-litre V12.

RO­TARY RE­BOUND

Mazda’s stun­ning RX Vi­sion con­cept has prompted much spec­u­la­tion as to what would power a pro­duc­tion model. Now Mazda North Amer­ica exec Rus­sell Wag­ner says any Mazda with an RX badge would have a ro­tary en­gine, pleas­ing fans world­wide.
