ALFA LAPS IT UP

Alfa Romeo’s po­tent four­door sedan — the Gi­u­lia Quadri­foglio — isn’t due here un­til Fe­bru­ary but al­ready more than 100 have been or­dered. Put that down to its Nur­bur­gring lap time of 7min 32sec, match­ing the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. It will cost about $145,000.

MONARO TO THE MAX

A 1969 Holden Monaro HT GTS 350 sold at a Shan­nons auc­tion for $225,000. The orig­i­nal Ver­doro Green Bathurst spe­cial was one of three Hold­ens to at­tract big money. A 1985 VK Com­modore SS Group A went for $106,000 and a 1972 LJ To­rana GTR XU-1 fetched $86,000.

LIMO TO THE RES­CUE

A Kur­dish free­dom fighter has res­cued more than 70 peo­ple in his bul­let-proof BMW 7 Se­ries sedan. They were pinned down by an ISIS at­tack in the Iraqi prov­ince of Kirkuk. Hero driver Ako Abur­rah­man re­fused BMW’s of­fer of a new car.
