Honda has just joined the 100 mil­lion club. Its cu­mu­la­tive pro­duc­tion to­tal passed the ma­jor mile­stone in De­cem­ber thanks to fac­to­ries at 34 lo­ca­tions in 18 coun­tries. Its first ve­hi­cle was the T360 mini truck in 1963 and its Ac­cord was the first pas­sen­ger car pro­duced in the US by a Ja­panese maker.


In an au­to­mo­tive world first, Skype for Busi­ness soon will al­low Volvo 90 Se­ries own­ers to check on com­ing meet­ings and par­tic­i­pants then, via the in­fo­tain­ment set-up, join in. Volvo says these “in-car pro­duc­tiv­ity tools” will al­low peo­ple to spend less time in the of­fice. No news yet on its up­take in Aus­tralia.


An all-new Kia GT, Toy­ota Camry, Honda Odyssey and fifth-gen­er­a­tion Lexus LS are among head­lin­ers for next week’s Detroit show. Con­cepts in­clude a gi­ant Audi Q8 SUV and an elec­tric re­work of VW’s clas­sic Kombi.
