Great ar­ti­cle on the Toy­ota Land­Cruiser 70 Se­ries but it’s a pity they don’t up­date the com­forts to ac­com­mo­date fam­i­lies. As you said, it’s a very re­li­able ve­hi­cle and could be driven any­where. My wife, my boys and I vis­ited Mount Isa in 1989 and this type of ve­hi­cle was used un­der­ground to trans­port vir­tu­ally any­thing. The min­ers locked the gear­box in sec­ond and stripped out a few less es­sen­tial items and when they fin­ished with the ’Cruis­ers they had driven some 250,000km un­der­ground.
