The BMW M5 has been unveiled ahead of its showroom arrival early next year. Putting the super sedan on a more even footing with the Mercedes-Benz E63S AMG, the Munich manufacturer has opted for all-wheel drive and a torque converter eight-speed auto in a bid to control its 4.4-litre V8 twin turbo (441kW/ 750Nm). BMW claims a 0-100km/h time of 3.4 seconds — identical to the heavier but more powerful Mercedes with 4.0-litre V8 twin turbo (450kW/850Nm) matched to a nine-speed auto and AWD. Price of the M5 is TBA.
