Herald Sun - Motoring - - MOTORING -

Japanese car giant Toyota has celebrated its 80th birthday. Australia’s favourite car brand for 14 years in a row, Toyota started in 1924 as a manufacturer of looms for the textile industry. The first production car was released in 1936, though the automotive company was not formed until August 1937. Now the world’s second biggest automotive manufacturer, it has built about 250 million vehicles.
