CAR OF THE SHOW
Toyo Tires, a major sponsor of SEMA, gave the gong to a 1968 Ford Mustang developed by American Legends.
Power comes from a Ferrari 430 engine and the custom interior has 3D printed components.
Joining it on Toyo’s “treadpass” walk was a custom 1955 Mercedes-Benz Gullwing, created by Californian outfit S Klub on a modern SLK32 chassis and powered by an AMG supercharged V6. Its blue leather interior is a work of art in itself.
The GT Carbon Series lifts the bling and lowers mass courtesy of swathes of carbonfibre. The weight-loss program involved a titanium exhaust, carbon-fibre wheels from Australian company Carbon Revolution and the deletion of the driver’s door bin and cupholders — the saving is about 18kg.
As with the regular GT, the Carbon Series will use Ford’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 sending 470kW/731Nm to the rear wheels. Applications to “approved customers” start this week and the order book will be open for a month.
Foremost on the stand: the RC 350 F Sport, which is on a cross-country customisation road trip that will culminate the LA Auto Show later this month. Cosmetic updates include forged 20-inch wheels, lower ride thanks to RS-R springs, more bark via an Apexi exhaust, satin wrap and exterior LED ground lights.
