Eye-catching Ella sets new trend in South Yarra

STYLE is the key to one of South Yarra’s latest developments. In the heart of the suburb’s imageconscious boutique, restaurant and cafe precinct, Ella has been built to be striking.

The Claremont St facade is a mix of timber and bronze and the entry has been styled like a hotel lobby.

The interiors feature a mix of oak timber floors, glossy white cabinetry with timber and stone veneers with European appliances in the kitchen.

Open-plan living areas have track lighting, each apartment features its own fireplace and there is an option to install a wine rack.

The development is close to shops, eateries and entertainment venues of Chapel St and is only a short trip from the Melbourne CBD.

It also takes advantage of a mostly north-west orientation to offer city skyline and Yarra River views.

Wade Keenan, chief operating officer of developer Spec Property, said the development was more than 50 per cent sold, with strong interest from young professionals.

‘‘Young professional women who are wanting to enter the property market and to be close to the city, but still in a bit of a funky location,’’ Mr Keenan said.

‘‘And we have investors who are wanting to buy into the area because they know the local market want to live there.’’

He said the building’s position near Chapel St was a major factor in sales so far, but many buyers appreciated the building’s style.

‘‘We have tried to do something different to what is in the street,’’ Mr Keenan said. ‘‘We have over 60 different styled apartments, based on how people want to live, rather than how efficient it is to build.’’

The complex features 20 floors of one- and two-bedroom apartments.

And 20 Vespa scooters are currently on offer for buyers of a onebedroom apartment over $416,000.

Construction is expected to be completed around mid-2015.
