Penthouses in Beaumaris

Herald Sun - Property - - APARTMENTS -

THE developer behind the transformation of the historic Beaumaris Hotel says he has saved the best to last with The Penthouse Collection release of nine luxury apartments.

The Edge Development Group managing director Cieran Kayes said The Penthouse Collection apartments were the final piece of The Beaumaris project to turn the 1888 hotel site into 66 contemporary residences.

Mr Kayes said the apartments would have views that could never be built out because the surrounding area was subject to a two-level building height restriction.

“It’s only because the heritage facade of the existing hotel is so high that we were able to get almost the equivalent of four storeys there,” Mr Kayes said.

“It means buyers will get the most absolutely beautiful views of that area. Half the penthouses will get views of the ocean and the city and the other half will get ocean views all the way down to Portsea.”

The apartments will also have an outdoor terrace opening off the open-plan living and dining area. Eight of the nine apartments are set to include a roof top terrace, offering more entertaining space and 360 degree views.

“We’re just finalising that with council now but that’s another bonus for buyers. They’ll have approximately 40sq m of rooftop terrace on top of their two levels of internal living space,” Mr Kayes said.

“They can have a barbecue up there and it will be magnificent.”

The apartments feature two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study, quality fittings and fixtures, including European marble and stone, luxury carpets and lift access from the basement car park and lobby.

Mr Kayes said the apartments had been designed in the style of a contemporary New York loft, featuring a mezzanine level.

“It’s like 1888 meeting 2015,” he said.

“This is literally the last stage, the best of the best.’’

He said about 80 per cent of the project had been sold and building work was ahead of schedule, with an expected finish date in January next year.

Prices of The Penthouse Collection apartments range from $1.35-$1.525 million.
