Pinnacle of housing estates
NEW housing estates in established eastern suburbs are hot property.
With opportunities to buy into new estates within built-up areas rare, buyers are swooping as soon as land goes on sale.
The first 65 blocks in the final land release at the popular Harcrest estate in Wantirna South sold out within hours of hitting the market last month.
A similar response is expected when the remaining 54 blocks go on sale on September 19.
The blocks are part of the 56.2ha masterplanned estate’s final Pinnacle release, so named because of its elevated position within the development.
The Pinnacle precinct will also sit opposite a lush new park, with some blocks facing the parkland. Mirvac group executive (residential) John Carfi said the final land release had been brought forward to meet strong demand.
“Buyers have recognised that Harcrest offers the opportunity to build a new home in an established soughtafter community in Melbourne’s eastern corridor,” he said.
“The community is thriving, with residents embracing the vibrant local shopping centre, active community garden and wonderful parkland facilities.”
More than 400 homes have already been built at Harcrest and it will have 899 homes when finished.
An IGA supermarket and other shops have already opened on site and Westfield’s Knox shopping centre is just down the road.
Residents will also have access to 6.9ha of landscaped parklands, with bike paths and “pocket parks” built for each stage of the development.
Mr Carfi said Harcrest’s environmentally friendly features — which include rainwater tanks, grey water garden irrigation and solar hot water systems — appealed strongly to buyers.
Buyers will have a choice of three block types in the Pinnacle release: “courtyard” blocks start at 250sq m and $430,000; “smart” blocks are from 312sq m and $515,000; and “lifestyle” blocks start at 350sq m and $595,000.
