Crane view a lift for buyers
DEVELOPERS of a St Kilda apartment project are offering the chance to enjoy the high life — literally.
Pace Development Group is offering buyers the opportunity to experience the actual views available from 181 Fitzroy Street, a 160-apartment project underway on the popular strip opposite Albert Park, via a construction crane on the site.
Director of sales and marketing Cameron Yates said the crane views, which will be available on weekends, would give buyers the confidence to purchase knowing their view could not be built out.
A buyer from Canberra, who flew down to see what the view would be like from her secondfloor apartment, was among the first people to take up the opportunity.
“We’re taking part of the mystery out of the equation and they can see for themselves what their views are actually going to be,” Mr Yates said.
Five of the six penthouses have sold in the 10-storey development, which launched in May.
While two sold for $4.8 million, Mr Yates believes another has claimed a St Kilda price record after selling for $2.5 million, achieving more than $20,000 per square metre.
SJB Architects conceived a fine-grained contemporary facade, drawing on the Art Deco and seaside influences of St Kilda.
The building is designed to recede from the street, with levels one to six reaching the property’s boundary, while levels eight and nine will be set back to take advantage of the views.
An infinity edge pool will provide one of the best views in Melbourne with sightlines to the bay and across Albert Park to the city from level 10, where other exclusive residents’ facilities include a gymnasium, a lounge and dining area and barbecues.
181 Fitzroy Street’s interiors are designed by Sue Carr, offering either a dark or light finish with a premium or pinnacle fitout and colour scheme.
“It’s a premium building. The level of finish is at a high level and is reflected in the price and position,” Mr Yates said.
“The whole way through our campaign, which started in May, about 70 per cent of the owner occupiers have come from St Kilda, Elwood or nearby.
“They’re upgrading from St Kilda and it’s within walking distance for a lot of them.”
Mr Yates said the selection of last remaining apartments available at 181 Fitzroy Street included the final penthouse for $2.25 million.
Two-bedroom apartments are sized from 73sq m to 100sq m of internal space, plus a balcony.
One-bedroom apartments with a study measure from 61sq m to 87sq m.
Prices start from $590,000 for one-bedroom designs and $625,000 for two-bedroom apartments.
