AF­FORD­ABLE lux­ury is the aim of a Hawthorn apart­ment project that of­fi­cially hits the mar­ket to­day.

The bou­tique Hawthorn Bond de­vel­op­ment will de­liver 31 apart­ments in a mix of one and two-bed­room de­signs across four lev­els.

De­vel­oper Shine Corp’s aims to bring lux­ury el­e­ments to an apart­ment set­ting at an af­ford­able price point.

“We don’t be­lieve that blue chip lo­ca­tions should only be ac­ces­si­ble by those who can af­ford the ac­com­pa­ny­ing price tag and by offering 31 unique floor­plans, we’ve tai­lored the de­vel­op­ment to have an apart­ment suit­able for ev­ery­one,” spokes­woman He­len Lau said.

The build­ing, de­signed by One De­sign Of­fice, also in­tends to pay homage to the area’s history as one of Mel­bourne’s key brick pro­duc­ers.

One De­sign Of­fice di­rec­tor Sam­son Tiew said pre­mium Hawthorn black bricks — a prod­uct of­ten as­so­ci­ated with lux­ury Vic­to­rian homes — fea­tured in the de­vel­op­ment.

Mr Tiew said apart­ment interiors would in­clude Aus­tralian hard­wood floors, Smeg ap­pli­ances and nat­u­ral ma­te­ri­als, com­ple­mented by a flex­i­ble floor­plan with a pas­tel colour pal­ette and brushed chrome fix­tures.

Lo­cated at 609 Bur­wood Rd, the de­vel­op­ment is within walk­ing dis­tance of Auburn vil­lage and the bustling Glen­fer­rie Rd precinct. Swin­burne Univer­sity and the Auburn train sta­tion are just a few min­utes’ walk away, while some of Mel­bourne’s best schools are found in the area, in­clud­ing Carey Bap­tist Gram­mar and MLC.

“It was a con­scious de­ci­sion not to in­clude any communal ar­eas on-site as the sur­round­ing area is equipped with ev­ery­thing you may need, in­clud­ing a gym, pool, restau­rants, cafes and even lo­cal gar­dens,” Mr Tiew said.

“By not dou­bling up on fa­cil­i­ties, Hawthorn Bond is able to of­fer an at­trac­tive and ac­ces­si­ble price point that ap­peals to a wider mar­ket, in­clud­ing first-home buy­ers through to down­siz­ers and in­vestors.”

The build­ing will have un­der­ground park­ing.

While the de­vel­op­ment, due to be fin­ished in June 2017, of­fi­cially hits the mar­ket to­day, more than 30 per cent of apart­ments have al­ready been snapped up in pre-launch sales.

Prices range from $425,000 to $532,000 for one-bed­room apart­ments and $595,000 to $765,000 for two-bed­room de­signs.
