Lofty view with eye on past
RICHMOND’S industrial past has turned to inspiration for a new apartment development in the suburb’s Doonside precinct.
Supply Co. Richmond Lofts at 9 St David St offers 140 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in a building that pays homage to its factory forebear. Beller Project Marketing director Damon Krongold said part of the 10storey development’s facade was a heritage-listed remnant of the former Builders Steel Form Supply Co, which fed the city’s building industry.
Mr Krongold said the words “Supply Co.” embossed on the remaining facade served as inspiration for the building’s name.
The ground floor area behind the facade will house a cafe, while accommodation will rise in nine floors to provide views of the city, Yarra River and eastern suburbs.
The Peddle Thorp design offers apartments with flexible floorplans that take advantage of the views. All apartments have one or two basement car spaces and ample terraces, save for a few one-bedroom dwellings. Larger two- and three-bedroom apartments enjoy bigger terraces labelled “sky gardens”.
Interiors feature Miele appliances and split-system heating and cooling.
One-bedroom apartments without a car park are $359,000, with one-bedroom with a car space priced at $419,000.
Two-bedroom apartments start at $565,000, while threebedroom, two-bathroom apartments start from $969,600, with the most expensive at $1.3 million.
The Supply Co. Richmond Lofts grand opening is today, with the first 30 buyers this weekend receiving a Matt Blatt Furniture package voucher.
