Families in for fight

Herald Sun - Property - - MARKET WRAP -

Strong pre-auction negotiations saw 1 Olinda Ave, Beaumaris, sell for $1.625 million a week before it was scheduled to go under the hammer.

A Swisse buyer who fell in love with the swanky fourbedroom property outgunned the competition to secure the property for his family.

“We actually had really strong European interest because of the architecture,” Mr Cooney said. “We had buyers from Germany, France and Switzerland coming out of the woodwork.”

The demand for family homes was also obvious at the auction of 40 Mawarra Cres, Chadstone, on April 23.

Five bidders competed for the five-bedroom house, which sold for $1.206 million, in what McGrath, Waverley, principal Con Lazogas described as a “solid” auction.

“It started slowly but ended strongly,” Mr Lazogas said.

“All the bidders were families as it was a good family home.”

Mr Lazogas agreed demand was strong for family homes.

“If it is a quality home that has been priced well, priced at market value, demand is definitely very strong,” Mr Lazogas said.
