And in Reser­voir, a fivebed­room house at 20 Robins Ave went for $1.195 mil­lion, a hefty $95,000 above re­serve.

Mean­while, the three­bed­room house at 23 Min­doro Cres, Lalor, fetched $80,000 above its re­serve price when it sold un­der the ham­mer for $505,000.

First-home buy­ers beat seven other hope­fuls in a bid­ding frenzy that saw 40 of­fers ex­changed.

Har­courts, Thomas­town and Ep­ping, direc­tor Tony Lom­bardi put the re­sult down to the area’s af­ford­abil­ity.

“Prop­er­ties in Lalor are still af­ford­able com­pared with sur­round­ing ar­eas,” he said. “This is con­tribut­ing to higher in­spec­tion num­bers in Lalor at present.”

This week, CoreLogic RP Data ex­pects more than 880 homes to be auc­tioned across Vic­to­ria.
