FOR­MER Miss Aus­tralia has listed the Hid­den Val­ley home she built six years ago. Ms Downes (be­low) won the na­tional beauty pageant in 1973 and went on to be­come a TV pre­sen­ter, work­ing on Chan­nel 10’s along­side and as a weather girl on Chan­nel 7. Sell­ing agent Bren­dan Flynn, of Barry Plant, Mitchell Shire, said Ms Downes built 16 Eastern Ridge in the “peace­ful” Hid­den Val­ley es­tate, near Wal­lan, on land that for­merly be­longed to bil­lion­aire

The es­tate fea­tures about 650 houses, as well as a golf course and horse fa­cil­i­ties.

Mr Flynn said Ms Downes was an equine en­thu­si­ast who kept horses on her 1ha prop­erty, which has pro­fes­sion­ally land­scaped gar­dens.

The house has three bed­rooms each with en­suites and walk-in wardrobes, while the main also has a spa bath.

The house also has a large study, a shel­tered out­door en­ter­tain­ing area and two sep­a­rate liv­ing ar­eas, one with gas log fire­place. The prop­erty is be­ing of­fered for pri­vate sale, with a price guide of $700,000 to $750,000. Mr Flynn is due to hold the home’s first open for in­spec­tion from noon today.
