After just 50 games of AFL football Maverick Weller has already begun to make his mark on the competition. The 24-year-old midfielder, who is an ambassador for Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision, has called Beaumaris home since joining the Saints in 2014. Our Saturdays look different depending on what day we play. A typical game day involves a bit of a sleep in followed by a big breakfast on the couch. I usually take my dog, Opie, for a walk to the park and then home for some meditation to get in the zone. I stay hydrated and leave the house with a smoothie and sushi in hand to arrive at the ground about two hours before kick off. I like a variety of chill out music but if I had to choose it would be Fleetwood Mac, Pete Murray, Xavier Rudd and even a little bit of the King himself, Elvis. I moved out of home at the age of 17, so I had to learn how to cook a decent meal. I managed to master a mean lamb shoulder but since meeting my partner, Sammie, I have to admit, I don’t do much of the cooking. We are real foodies and she loves cooking so every night we try something different. I always have a bottle of water next to my bed, my GoPro and a photo frame of my family. My brothers and I all live in different states so it’s nice to have them close.
