My favourite things

DESK

I made this desk back in year 12; it was my final VCE project. It’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done. I love working at it because I created it for myself. I thought of all the things I like doing at my desk and all the storage compartments I might need. I love working at it because I spent so many hours creating it, but I was proud of what I created.

MODEL CHAIR

I really like making things with my hands. I really like recreating things and I’ll recreate them on a much larger or smaller scale. I really like this little Ernest Race chair because it just reminds me of my model making. It reminds me of one of the things I love doing and it reminds me of my furniture design associate degree.

CD

I loved watching Dirty Dancing growing up. I can’t even remember how old I was when I first watched it but I just love it. I watch it now and I love it even more. The soundtrack is just the best; I love blasting that. I just love the story of Baby and her victory at the end.

CAMERA

I’ve had the camera since I was 18 and I’ve gone through lots of phases with it, from taking photos at parties to travelling with it and taking shots around the world, and even at my other job taking photos of furniture. I really like the fact it reminds me of all the moments I’ve been able to capture with it.

PHOTO

This is a picture of my grandparents’ farm; they live just across the paddock from where I grew up. Pretty much every night after school, we would go over and feed the chooks and help out around the farm. I really like the picture because it reminds me of the farm and as I don’t get to go back that often now, it’s nice having it in my room.

CAP

I started working at Carlton almost three months ago and at the start of August it was my birthday and some of the players had signed this cap for me. I like it because it was such a nice thing for them to do and symbolises how I felt coming into the club. I’ve always felt really welcomed and they do lots of little things to make you feel special. When I look at the cap, I think of how great the club has been and it makes me look forward to next year and what’s to come, being part of the women’s team.
