At home with actor and comedian Ben Chisholm
THE actor and comedian, 33, lives in Geelong with wife Tennell and their children Jayda, 6, and Brannan, 7. His acting break came when he scored a role in the Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks miniseries The Pacific, in which he used his army background to offer advice on military staging. He was cast as Josh in Working Dog Productions’ The Hollowmen, which led to a string of other appearances, including Neighbours and Winners & Losers.
However, Chisholm lists his latest role as BJ in Aussie suspense film Red Billabong as among his career highlights so far.
Typical Saturday morning
My son is an early riser and will be dressed and ready to go for the day at about 6.30am — and depending on how busy my week has been, I will most likely hit the gym. Then it’s off to coach my son’s basketball team.
Secret domestic skill
Without a doubt, I am a really great ironer and it is something I have always been particular about. Even when my mum used to try and iron, I would push her aside and tell her that I would do it. It goes back to my time, I think, when I was in the army. Having said that, I am a slob when it comes to actually putting clothes away.
Italian is definitely my specialty, as I have Italian heritage and grew up learning how to cook from my mother and nonna. My best dish would be my lasagne, the sauce in particular.
On my bedside table
My lamp, my phone and a bottle of water. And maybe the TV remote. It is quite minimalist as I am not one of those people who enjoys a cluttered bedside.
Either Led Zeppelin or Frank Sinatra. Frank is the bomb. What is not to love about Ol’ Blue Eyes? He could do everything: sing, move, act.
Happiness at home
Food and family. I love sitting down at the end of the day and talking to the family about their day, while we share food.
