At home with Hughesy

Herald Sun - Property - - FRONT PAGE - JOHANNA LEGGATT

THIS much-loved stand-up comic is a radio and TV presenter. He hosts KIIS FM Network’s national drive show, Hughesy & Kate, with Kate Langbroek and lives in St Kilda with wife Holly and their kids, Rafferty, 7, Sadie, 5, and Tess, 3.

Typical Saturday morning

I try and negotiate a sleep-in of some kind. Holly and I ban the kids from screen time on devices during the week so basically when Saturday morning comes we throw the iPad at them and try to get some sleep-in time. We also take the kids to AFL Auskick on a Saturday morning, which makes es foro so some e p pretty etty co cold d starts to the day in winter.

Secret domestic skill

I wouldn’t say I am domestic. When it comes to the garden, a weed needs to get to the size of an oak ak tree to receive some attention from me. In terms of inside the house,se, I do enough so that my wife doesn’t esn’t stab me.

Signature dish

I am not a great cook and my excuse is that I work drivetime radio and amm way too tired when I get home to cook. My specialty, pecialty, however, would be a fish fingerr sandwich. I am very good at cooking fish fingers in the oven. As long as I rememberer to set the timer.

Favourite chill-out music

I am old-school when it comes s to music. I like Talking Heads, New Order, Crowded House, that kind of thing. I am stuck in the ’80s and I am still trying to convince the family how great the Pink Floyd song Wish You Were Here is.

Ideal night in

It would involve Holly cooking ga a delicious meal, or maybe somee takeaway, and the kids going to o bed early and not waking up duringg the night. Neither of us drink, so we would put a comedy on and have someme sparkling mineral water. I lovee to watch sports, but you need a happy medium, so a comedy is a nice way to meet in n the middle.
