Michelle Payne saddles up to sell
MELBOURNE Cup winner Michelle Payne is hoping to reign in a buyer for her sleek St Kilda investment property. The Ballarat-based jockey and trainer has listed her one-bedroom apartment at 1704/3-5 St Kilda Rd, which she bought off the plan three years ago.
McGrath, St Kilda, principal Michael Townsend, who has the listing, said Payne had rented out the 17th floor apartment in the luxury STK building since taking ownership, including to family members.
It’s being offered for private sale with a price guide of $479,000.
CoreLogic records show the apartment last changed hands in January 2014 for $463,000.
Mr Townsend said the home offered stunning views of the Dandenongs and the city skyline, and a balcony to admire them from.
It also comes with a car park, and access to the building’s resort-style communal features — a gym, infinity pool, yoga room, sauna and steam room, rooftop lawns, a library and business centre, and an alfresco deck with barbecues and a fire pit.
Mr Townsend said Payne chose to invest in St Kilda because of the lifestyle amenities it offered. “It’s one of the best Melbourne suburbs for finding tenants,” he said.
He said the 31-year-old had decided to sell because her investment had “matured” and now was a good time to move it on, with the area’s property market cantering.
The agent expected first-home buyers who worked in the city and investors to express interest in the apartment.
