Suburb blockbuster

MOONLIGHT Cinema founder turned developer James Tutton is selling his remarkable Coburg home, with price hopes that would set a new suburb record. Tutton engaged Clare Cousins Architects to fully renovate the towered Victorian “mansionette” at 23 The Grove, named Koorali, after buying the property for a thenCoburg record price of $2.2 million in August 2015. No. 35 The Grove broke that benchmark in April, fetching $2.5 million. No. 23 will seek to take it back with a $3-$3.3 million price guide quoted as part of an expressions of interest campaign, closing September 20.

Jellis Craig, Brunswick, director Rob Elsom — who’ has listed the property in conjunction with Kay & Burton’s Damon Krongold — said the “superb renovation” had breathed contemporary life into the 1887 house.

It involved retaining period features, such as marble fireplaces, and adding modern luxuries like marble and tiled bathrooms, outdoor decks, walk-in wardrobes, a pool and fire pit.
