RATINGS figures for Channel 9’s Today have climbed almost 9 per cent nationally in the past year.

Seven’s Sunrise is still the leading breakfast show, but has shed almost 3 per cent of its viewers.

Today executive producer Tom Malone rubbished Seven’s suggestion that Today’s improved ratings were a result of copying Sunrise.

‘‘We have won Melbourne for a year now, Sydney is improving and nationally we’re getting closer and closer all the time,’’ Malone says.

‘‘We are busy setting our own agendas.’’
