LIKE many other Australians, Michala Banas is waiting for Channel 9 to play the final series of McLeod’s Daughters. Nine announced last November that the eighth series of the show, which has aired since 2001, would be the last.
McLeod’s returned in late July but lasted only three weeks in its new timeslot— Wednesdays at 8.30pm— and was replaced by Cold Case. Nine is planning to play the remaining episodes over summer.
‘‘I think it’s a real shame that they haven’t let it run its course so the fans can see the beautiful epic final,’’ Banas says. ‘‘I have people coming up to me in the street saying, ‘What’s happened to it? Why can’t we see the last episodes?’
‘‘ McLeod’s is such an iconic Australian show and it has done so well around the world. I’m sure Nine has its reasons for taking it off.’’
