WORKING on a TV drama can be a hard slog. Lucy Liu works 12 to 14-hour days and hasn’t much of a social life.

However, it’s important to Liu that she finds time to work as an ambassador for UNICEF.

From visiting survivors of the 2005 Pakistan earthquake to witnessing the impact of HIV and AIDS on children and communities in Lesotho, it’s clear she has strong social conscience.

‘‘I work closely with UNICEF and try to travel as much as I can with them and am working on a documentary right now about sex slavery in Cambodia and around the world,’’ she says. ‘‘That’s something I amproducing and working on as well.’’
