Hating Alison Ashley Channel 10, Saturday, 6.30pm

BASED on the 1984 novel of the same name, this 2005 film adaptation is probably a bit of an afterthought. Saskia Burmeister plays Erica, an adolescent furiously envious and resentful of new schoolgirl Alison (Delta Goodrem). Reasonably entertaining but Burmeister’s character is so dislikable it is hard to really sympathise with her. Also stars Craig McLachlan as the dorky physical education teacher who everyone had when they went to school.

Patch Adams Channel 10, Saturday, 11.30pm

HUNTER Campbell Adams or ‘‘Patch’’ is a real physician who dresses as a clown to bring happiness to patients in his care. Here, his interesting life is portrayed in a cliched, ham-fisted manner in the hands of director Tom Shadyac, responsible for such turkeys as Evan Almighty and Dragonfly. This is unfortunate for Robin Williams, who portrays the physician and comes across as irritating rather than interesting.
