ALISON Whyte and husband Fred Whitlock (pictured below) have three children, Rose, Milly and Atticus. They lost a daughter, Stella, at 36 weeks’ gestation.

Whyte and Whitlock knew they’d lost the baby before the birth, but Whyte wanted Stella to have a ‘‘good birth’’ just like her sisters.

‘‘It’s something we discussed a lot (before talking openly about it),’’ Whyte says of Stella.

‘‘The thing is, I always think of myself as a proud mum of four even though I’ve only got three little ones here.

‘‘I always have to correct myself and say ‘I’ve got three kids’.

‘‘It’s obviously something major in our lives. It’s one of those things that happens to you and you just think it would never happen to you. Unfortunately, it did happen to me . . . sorry, to us, as a family.’’
