from Sue, Traralgon South IN REPLY to Angry Yokel of Traralgon ( Guide, April 8), the bush does get One HD, it just depends on your antenna. We receive the regional and metropolitan channels, including One HD, from one antenna.
Serve us an ace, Nine
from Brian, Belgrave NOT sure if Channel 9 will televise the US Open golf this year, but I hope it’s televised at the same time as Wimbledon, from 10.30pm, instead of in the wee small hours. More people play golf in Australia than tennis, yet Nine runs Wimbledon for two weeks at a reasonable hour. Whatever happens, don’t follow the lead of Channel 10 with the Masters — the number of ads drove me nuts.
Call of the wild
from Chooka, Kerang I WATCHED the footy match between Carlton and Essendon on Channel 10 on Saturday, April 11. Why bother to have commentators at the game? Apart from the times when the crowd went a bit quiet, such as bouncing the ball in the middle or kicking out from goal, you couldn’t hear a word the commentators were saying. I’m sure they either a) sit in the stands with the crowd, or b) have the window of their commentary box wide open.
Hosts’ added appeal
from Max Adams, Barwon Heads CHANNEL 7’s logical choice to host the evening session of the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal was Peter Mitchell, so ably assisted by Jennifer Keyte. Both are self-effacing types and presented enjoyable television with Grant Denyer thankfully only having a small part as a guest. Well done, Mitch and Jen.
from Phil Crowe, Blackwood WHAT’S wrong with the clocks and calendars at Channel 7? AFL football is always shown an hour or two after the actual event, and it showed the movie The Passion of the Christ on Easter Saturday when the actual event occurred on Good Friday.
Theatre of dreams
from Big Kid, Sunshine GREAT to see The Kingdom of Paramithi is back on. What a great show for kids to learn about the theatre. It reminds me of when we were kids and would dress up and put on a show for our family and friends. I’m over 40 and watch it before I go to work. I love it.
