★★★★ SYDNEY firm STM specialises in gadget-friendly bags and the company’s latest can transport laptops and tablets at once. The STM Vertical can store a 15-inch laptop vertically inside a plush, cordlined compartment, but it has room for an iPad as well in a special padded pocket lined with soft nylex to accommodate its touchscreen. The STM Vertical also has extra compartments and zipup pockets as well as an organisational panel and zipup front pouch for phones, wallets, keys and other accessories. A quick-access pocket, padded shoulder strap and foam grip handle also feature. CRUMPLER bags are known for two things: unusual names and rugged material. The Reginald Transfer ticks both boxes. It is designed to fit a 15-inch laptop in its adjustable padded safety cell and has three pockets on its front for smaller gadgets. On the other side you’ll find a larger pocket for papers, a magazine, a book or yet another gadget. Despite having room for plenty of items, this bag is slim and can be slung over a shoulder with its removable strap or carried like a briefcase with foldaway twin handles. A lifetime warranty covers replacement or repair for defective material or workmanship. TABLETS and netbooks are designed for travel so it makes sense to carry them in a protective bag. Rather than leaving these gadgets to swim in a large laptop bag, the Booq Taipan Shadow XS is designed specifically for their smaller forms. The Booq bag is light and compact with a plushlined, padded chamber to hold a tablet or netbook, sealed with a durable YKK zipper. There is also plenty of room and smaller compartments for accessories, papers, business cards, wallet, a phone and other small items. If you lose your bag an enclosed barcode and web address can direct a good Samaritan your way.
