HTC Desire HD

★★★★★ IS it a tablet or is it a smartphone? The enormous screen on the HTC Desire HD asks the question but its ease of use is unquestionable. Its 4.3-inch touchscreen makes websites, on-screen keys, apps and widgets easy to use, and turns this smartphone into one of the largest 8-megapixel cameras. The Desire HD’s camera is advanced and will let you touch a subject to focus on it, change settings, use a dual LED flash for party photos, and it will capture 720p video. The latest Google Android software (v2.2) delivers apps aplenty to this phone, and a 1GHz processor keeps them quick. Extras include the ability to turn the phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot and HTC Sense for organising your friends’ details in one place. This phone’s slim profile impresses, but its large footprint could be a dealbreaker. Also, its battery life can shrink if many services are in use, and it’s only available through Vodafone. For apps, email, internet use and spontaneous photos, this phone is hard to beat.
