★★★★ Replacing your landline with a mobile phone sounds easy, until you realise you have nothing but a warm block of radiation to hold on to in the comfort of your home. This can be solved with a handset such as this one. Designed by David Turpin, it looks and acts like a comfortable telephone of old and can even be cradled under your chin. A soft-touch finish helps the cause, while colours — including purple, blue and pink — help it stand out. Best of all, it fits into any standard headphone port, so you can use it with almost any smartphone. It can also be connected to a computer for Skype calls, though a USB connection is sold separately. It only has one button — for answering and rejecting calls — but it is simple to use.
